Abstract

Objective: to present an updated overview of the most relevant HAI in pediatric care routine. The diagnostic and treatment approach are presented in summary form for guidance to health professionals. Method: In this bibliographic review (databases, websites and specialized journals) studies on diagnosis and treatment of HAI (Upper Airway Infection) in the area of pediatrics were selected. The databases evaluated were MEDLINE, PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, SciELO and LILACS. Results: The main HAI are presented, and the diagnosis, therapeutic and preventive strategies are raised. Conclusion: HAI are one of the most common reasons for care in pediatricians, so it is important for professionals to use updated diagnostic and therapeutic conducts in their clinical practice. We stand out preventive measures such as vaccination.
