Regulation of hospital admissions from a fictitious clinical case - experience of medical students

Objective: to discuss the medical regulation of hospital admissions, its functioning and its importance, from a fictitious clinical case, in the light of the scientific literature and current legislation. Method: This is an experience report elaborated from the activities of a discipline of the medical course of a private institution in Brasília. The fictitious cases and the performance of the regulatory physician were elaborated in the period from May 1 to 20, 2023 from the seminars provided for in the discipline and under faculty supervision. Results: It was perceived through the demand for an ICU bed, which was not available, the need of the patient to receive follow-up. So, the action of the regulating physician was essential to refer the patient and ensure his proper bed in the ICU. Conclusion: Thus, it was possible to understand the complexity and necessity of regulating beds for proper hospitalizations and promoting effective care.
